Your day trip begins in central Vienna, where you meet up with your guide and hop aboard your coach.

Watch the scenery change from the capital’s bustling streets to the picturesque landscape of the Austrian countryside. Journey through the UNESCO-listed Wachau Valley, a 24-mile (39-km) stretch of the Danube River. Running between the towns of Krems and Melk, the area is celebrated for its blend of natural and historical beauty, dotted with vineyards, wine villages, forestland, fortresses, and castles. Hear about the history of the area from your guide as you travel.

Pass by the medieval castle ruins of Dürnstein Castle before heading to Spitz, where you hop aboard a boat. Enjoy a stunning ride along the Danube, passing the wine town of Krems. (Please note, during the winter months November through April the boat tour will be replaced by lunch).

Arrive in Melk for a visit to the Benedictine Melk Abbey, which overlooks the river. First established in the 11th century, the Baroque-style abbey is adorned in bright frescoes and has housed monks for over 900 years.

Then, hop back in your coach for a smooth return to Vienna.

unexpected treasures

The best part was sharing a small bottle of sparkling Riesling and a piece of Benedictine torte on the patio of the restaurant at the abbey. But there were many other wonderful parts. The coach bus was very comfortable. Our guide was affable and knowledgeable - any clearly very experienced as he was responsible for herding a diverse group of tourists speaking multiple languages. We ordered lunch on our own on the cruise - the salmon medallions on tagliatelle were divine. And the Abbey itself - wow. We are museum-loving people and were impressed by treasures displayed at the abbey. The library itself was worth the tour. The main reading room was a treasure itself, not to mention the thousands of lovingly preserved books displayed on the shelves. And at the end of the tour - the Abbey church. Beautiful. Beyond words. On the bus ride home, our guide let us sleep till we got close to Vienna and then entertained us with bits of history and information about the buildings we passed.

Very knowledgeable with great personality lady who guided our tour. Also, very helpful with getting around in Austria for first time visitors. I was very impressed how our guide and the personnel of Melk Abbey was handballing my mother (84 years old) traveling needs. We enjoyed the hole trip and recommend others to have the same unforgettable experience!

Bus- rush- Bus- Rush and more bus

My family and me were disappointed with this trip for two reason: - Too much Bus trip a only 1h and 10 min Boat trip. Its almost all trip by bus except the 1h and 10 min of the Boat. Really anoying to see so much road. - No time to visit the two cities that are on the program. ( If you are not fan to go for souvenirs shopping and you like to enjoy to discover new places, you will have the same feeling than us). On the first city that we stop , we had only 1h to visit the city and go to the restroom (-15min walk from the parking to the city). It will be nice if you have time to visit the city and also have a nice coffee there, but it was impossible and also the feeling that you need to leave soon. An in Melk the same problem or even worst, you need to choose if you want to eat (in the only restaurant that is there, that means extremely busy) or go to visit the Botanic garden and of course forget about to see Melk City because all this things will be not possible. (Went I said to go to eat, I mean a simple sandwich, we don´t need much more, but its not possible do both). Then after the Monastery tour you need to go back to the bus, no time to visit the city. Too much rush, It will be super nice if you can enjoy the visits in both places. Its not need to be in Vienna at 17:00h. I would love to come back 2h later and be available to enjoy the trip day. Ps. FYI, The tour in the Monastery is only in English. We request this all trip in Spanish but in the Monastery is only in English. Our guide tour translate to the spanish group, but because some complains about it.

Excellent trip to Wachau Valley

Great trip and great experience. Hour guide has really huge knowledge about all the landmarks as was talking about them with passion. He was using fluently 3 languages (English, Spanish, German) and it was a bit exhausting listening 3 times the same if you understood all those languages but I absolutely understand it - that's his job. The trip schedule is in some moments very tight but it's not an disadvantage. If I could made another trip for sure I would select this one.
