Colosseum/Roman Forum

Make your own way to a central meeting point in Rome to meet your guide and group.

Walk over to the Colosseum with your skip-the-line ticket in hand, then bypass the main entrance lines to head straight inside the arena via the Gladiator’s Gate. Transporting you back in millennia, your guide regales you with stories of the gladiators who fought here to their death.

From the arena, head up to the first floor to see where the bloodthirsty Roman crowds bayed, and gaze out over Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum—your next stop.

Leave the Colosseum, and walk over to the forum as you hear tales of imperial-era Rome. Wander around the main ruins and monuments of the ancient plaza, which was a center of political activity in the city’s heyday.

Finish your tour near the Roman Forum.

NOTE: There is a new rule at the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill that only small backpacks and regular-size handbags are allowed inside. Guests with larger bags are not allowed to enter (there are no storage facilities) and all guests must now pass through a security check before entering the Colosseum.

Stop At:
Colosseum
Step off the tourist track in the Colosseum and get a gladiator’s-eye-view by using their special entrance and stepping onto the normally off-limits arena floor. You can’t get closer to the action than this. The arena floor is where people actually fought and died in the Colosseum. While most visitors only ever see it from the stands, you’ll bypass long, general entrance lines and step directly onto it via the special Gladiator’s Gate. As you marvel at the great amphitheater around you, your expert guide will tell stories to transport back nearly 2,000 years, when vicious blood sports were the most popular form of entertainment in Rome. During your tour you’ll also explore the rest of the Colosseum, including the first floor and Roman Forum overlook.

Great tour! Loved our guide! The teens enjoyed it and thought it was interesting. Take water with you in case the fountains aren’t working and it’s hot.

I really connected with our guide Flavia. It was sweltering HOT the day of our tour and I am so glad our guide is concerned about us melting down. She found shade everywhere to explain most facts and historical events. I would recommend this tour!

On a hot day in Rome, our guide Sarah still made this tour memorable for all the right reasons. Her energy, information and practical approach made the tour so worthwhile. The sites themselves were unbelievable and with guides like Sarah your experience of them will be even better.

I took 3 tours of the Colosseo (Colosseum). This one as the best. The only problem I had was that it was hard to understand what the tour guide was saying because of his English. It was still a good tour and I would recommend it.

A great experience under the expert guidance of Marco who was extremely knowledgeable. The only downside was the occasional interference in the audio headsets from other tour groups operating on the same channel.
