The cuisine of Provençe boasts a unique fusion of flavors, blending the rich complexity of French food with rustic simplicity borrowed from neighboring Italy. With countless eateries and shops, Nice is bursting with this authentic flavor, if you know where to look. Make your way to the heart of old town, known as Vieux Nice, to meet your local foodie guide. Learn about the area’s history and Italian influence as you wander through narrow lanes and past charming sidewalk cafes.

Along the way, stop in an assortment of local markets and specialty food shops hand-picked for their variety and authenticity. Sample Provençal cuisine such as a pissaladière onion tart, stuffed vegetables called petits farcis and a Niçoise salad sandwich served on fresh-baked pain de campagne. Taste locally produced cheeses, olive oil, and wine, plus a sweet almond candy known as calisson. During tastings, chat with your guide and shop proprietors to learn how to incorporate local flavor into your cooking at home.

In between delicious dishes, visit other local highlights including a Baroque church, the colorful Cours Saleya flower market, and Castle Hill for fantastic sea and city views. After walking, nibbling and sipping, say farewell to your guide near Nice’s Place Rossetti.

A must do while in Nice!
, Jun 2021
My wife and I have done numerous food tours all across Europe and this tour, together with Frances, was one of the greats! Very knowledgeable of the city‘s history and full of tips and secrets of things to do while in Nice. All this while enjoying the best food the city has to offer. Highly recommended!!!

Nice Food Group Tour

The small group tour with Frances was fabulous. She was extremely knowledgeable and gave the group lots of useful tips about places to eat. We tasted many delicious local foods, one which was the chickpea pancake called Soca. We had a very nice breakfast of fruit and pastries and Frances bought us some local cheeses to try for lunch. The tour was excellent value for money. Highly recommend it.

Second time we’ve booked a food tour with Viator. Both experiences were excellent. Our guide was knowledgeable and took us to so many places to try local specialities. She gave us historical information to better understand the nuances of Nicoise cuisine.
Quick Tour

The small group food tour was a nice quick walking tour around a small area of Nice, that gives you an overview of some of the local flavors. Was a nice break from the beach and learned a little something about the city over a few small snacks.
Excellent tour!

Marion was great! A local from Nice and very knowledgeable about the food and the city! We tasted an assortment of local favorites- fruits, pastries, savory treats, and sweets. It was all delicious and the food was really plentiful. It was a beautiful walk through Old Town and she took us to places that had rich history or were very unique (like an artisan olive oil shop, the historic sweet and chocolate shop across from the opera house, the flower market, etc). Marion herself was so sweet, easy going and felt less like a tour and more like a friend showing us the city. My 3 friends and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thank you Marion!
Educational and Delicious

This was a wonderful way to start off a stay in Nice. Our happy and knowledgeable guide was a local, well known to the culinary scene in Nice, Marion, nick named the "White Wolf". She is a native and knows her stuff! We visited and sampled the fresh market in Old Town and tasted extraordinary regional delicacies. We finished the tour high upon the hill overlooking Nice, enjoying a special fare of wine and cheeses which she had collected along the tour. The French know their food...what a treat! Do not miss!!

I had hoped to take good care of my stomach during my stay in Nice, ...and I was not disappointed. The "friendly family atmosphere" of the tour was an added bonus. There were some really interesting stops on this tour, from quaint little shops to the vibrant market scene. A colorful provinciale ( Juliette) was the creator of some really excellent goat cheese.
