Meet your guide and group of no more than 15 in central Florence. Then, set out into the medieval streets for an introduction to this Renaissance city.

Florence may be very walkable, but it still offers numerous surprises and little-known neighborhoods. As well as providing an overview of the major sights, your tour will take you pff the tourist track to discover these off-the-radar gems. Your guide will also proffer recommendations on great restaurants along the way.

Explore ‘Dante’s District,’ where Italy’s famous 13th-century poet lived, and admire Florence’s Duomo, with its magnificent Renaissance dome. Pause at Michelangelo’s House, once owned by the sculptor, and see the marble-coated Basilica of Santa Croce.

Pass the Sant’Ambrogio market – a great lunch spot for foodies — and contemplate the statues in the Piazza della Signoria, including the replica of Michelangelo’s David. Admire the Palazzo Vecchio, once the Florentine seat of government, and cross the Ponte Vecchio bridge into Oltrano, where locals relax and eat out.

Enjoy a delicious Florentine gelato, and stop to see the Palazzo Pitti and birthplace of Lisa Gherardini, the model for Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘Mona Lisa.’

After about 2.5 hours’ exploring, your tour concludes at the Piazza Santo Spirito.

We took this tour on our first afternoon in the city and it ended up being a delightful introduction to the city. You don't go into any sites, but the point is to help you find your feet and whet your appetite for more in-depth sight-seeing.
