Piazza del Duomo, 50122 Firenze FI, Italy
Make your way to the Piazza San Marco, where you’ll meet your guide. Walk right past the long lines at the Accademia Gallery, and visit one of the museum’s most iconic masterworks: the David, a longtime symbol of the small (but mighty) Florentine Republic. You’ll also have time to explore some of Michelangelo’s unfinished sculptures, The Slaves, which offer a fascinating insight into the artist’s creation process.

Continue to the Duomo Baptistry to see its famous doors, replicas of the originals, which you’ll see later in the Duomo Museum. Learn stories about the members of the powerful Medici family that were baptized here, and see some of the Duomo’s exquisite artwork.

The next stop is the Duomo Museum, which offers a glimpse of how the Cathedral’s original façade once looked, and contains masterpieces by Michelangelo and Donatello. Walk past the lines into the Duomo itself, where you’ll have special access to a room of statues from the Cathedral’s original façade. This tour also gets you pass the velvet ropes, so you can take in the Cathedral’s remarkable detailing up close.

Finish the tour with a once-in-a-lifetime experience: skip the lines for the Duomo Terraces, and climb all the way to the top for panoramic views of Florence. This tour concludes at the Duomo Terraces.

Fabulous Tour with Charles
jryen2016
, Oct 2019
Loved this tour. I did extensive research on deciding which tours to attend while in Florence and picked this one because of the small group size, early access to see Michelangelo's David and walk to the top of the Dome. Charles, our guide, did an outstanding job! Very knowledgeable about everything we saw and the history along with the history of Florence. Access to see the David before the crowds was outstanding! The walk to the top of the dome was a bit daunting but doable and the view was outstanding. I would highly recommend this tour.

Vanessa, our tour guide, was truly exceptional. The detail and excitement she provided in her explanation of the David and Duomo gave us the best appreciation possible for both. She provided great insight on Michelangelo's life and the creation of the statue, as well as the architecture and artwork within the Duomo. You could tell she really loves her job, and it made us love the tour.

Tour started from the San Marco square with a quick introduction followed by a great tour of academia and statue of David. Then the museum and Duomo terraces. Viola was well informed and passionate about the stories she told.

Game Changer

This may have changed my life. I came to this tour without any real interest in art and left it wanting to take a course in it over the summer in Italy. I've traveled all over and have taken many tours but this was the best I'd ever taken. Perhaps it was because of our incredible guide Klaus. He had the energy of Robbin Williams and an infectious enthusiasm that just wore off on me. This was the best money we could have spent. The David took my breath away and the Duomo must be experienced to be believed. I wish I could leave this tour more stars than five. If you can get Klaus as your guide get ready for your life to be changed. THIS IS WORTH IT!

Excellent guide and tour

As other reviews state it’s worth it getting up early to get to the academy before the crowds. Our only regret was the 8 am wasn’t available when we booked. Still was an excellent and informative tour. There was no waiting at the Duomo but there were still many people on the climb. 5 min rooftop walk was short but amazing. Definitely best way to go!
