Mosaiccos

Carrer dels Assaonadors, 10, 08003, Barcelona

The Basics

Designed for all ages, Mosaiccos’ classes and activities allow participants to learn the technique, choose a design, and then craft a handmade mosaic souvenir. Mosaic courses range in length from two hours to 16 hours (for advanced students), while children and families can sign up for a Gaudí Experience class or holiday-themed workshop. Those with a particular interest in Barcelona’s modernisme movement can combine a mosaic workshop with an architectural tour of the city.

What Is a Trencadís?

Trencadís, also known as shardware or pique assiette, is a form of mosaic art created by cementing together bits of broken chinaware and tile. The technique, a Gaudí hallmark, allows artists to cover curved and uneven surfaces, or even rounded shapes. It’s also an excellent way to recycle and reuse materials.
